Job Summary

Seeking an experienced LVN/LPN – Medical Surgical / Telemetry to support a temporary overflow unit designed to accommodate Emergency Department boarding patients. This role involves caring for adult Med/Surg and Telemetry patients in a flexible unit environment with fluctuating census based on demand.

Unit Overview

• 14-bed Med/Surg Tele overflow unit

• Supports ED holding and boarding patients

• Flexible unit located within a GI Endoscopy space

• Patient volume may increase or decrease based on operational needs

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective nursing care for adult Med/Surg and Telemetry patients

• Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes

• Monitor vital signs and report changes in patient condition to RN/MD

• Perform blood glucose monitoring and oxygen administration

• Support ED overflow patients using SBAR communication

• Maintain infection control and isolation precautions

• Accurately document care using the electronic medical record system

Required Skills

• Med/Surg and Telemetry patient care

• Emergency Department patient support

• Blood glucose monitoring/testing

• Foley catheter insertion (male and female)

• NG tube / G-tube care and management

• Medication administration (IM, SQ, oral)

• Oxygen therapy (nasal cannula, face mask)

• Patient ambulation and personal care

• Admission assessments and vital sign monitoring

• Communication of patient status changes

Qualifications

• Active LVN/LPN license

• BLS certification required

• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Tele experience

• EPIC EMR experience required

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Previous charge experience preferred

• First-time travelers welcome
