Job Description

The Tool and Die Maker reports directly to the Toolroom Manager. This position is responsible for repairing and adjusting dies as needed to run to ensure a quality product for our customers.

This position is based at our Milan, MI plant. Our Milan facility is a high-quality manufacturer of stamped assemblies, closures and suspension systems.

Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED and 4 years of related trade school instruction
  • State Certified Journeyman Status preferred.
  • At least 4 years’ experience working in a production environment and troubleshooting.

Experience:

  • Preferred: Experience working in a metal stamping manufacturing environment
  • Strong background on understanding die theory and trouble shooting
  • Must be able to run all toolroom equipment, read prints and run precision equipment
  • Experience with transfer and progressive dies
  • Pressroom trouble shooting
  • Requires long hours of standing and walking, lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal; good mathematical skills and an understanding of mechanical principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains and upgrades fixtures and gages
  • Performs general die maintenance such as sharpening, repairing and/or replacing details, grinding form steels, timing dies correctly, and modifying tools to current standards.
  • Maintains good safety and housekeeping practices
  • Regular attendance is necessary to be successful in this position
