Job Summary:
- The driver will operate and drive a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) van for the Immigrant Health and Cancer Disparities (IHCD) Service to provide efficient and safe transportation and delivery of people, equipment and supplies to scheduled sites for events serving populations supported by the MHU and other MSK locations including regional sites.
- The driver will assist in outreach events by setting up events, greeting participants, providing basic information and assisting with participant flow.
- The driver may be responsible for completing other transportation and vehicle-related responsibilities as assigned.
- The driver may be responsible for parking or picking up vehicles from non-MSK parking locations within or outside of Manhattan.
- The driver may be responsible for site-specific maintenance of the vehicle.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operates and drives the Mobile Health Unit to scheduled sites for single-day events inside and outside the metropolitan area of New York.
- Provides efficient and safe transportation and delivery of staff, physicians, supplies, specimens, equipment, pharmacy materials, instruments, educational materials, PPE and patient records between MSK locations or other designated locations.
- Retrieves and returns MSK vehicles to and from designated areas on scheduled workdays.
- Adheres to all rules and regulations for transporting items and ensures all regulatory documentation is completed and signed including chain of custody, cleaning documentation and bills of lading.
- Greets participants and community members in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
- Assists staff with setup and breakdown of tables and equipment at scheduled single-day event sites.
- Assists with directing the flow of participants to ensure efficient delivery of services.
- Observes participants and provides assistance with boarding and disembarking including offering physical support and assisting with wheelchairs when needed.
- Provides internal delivery of medical supplies, instruments, equipment, IT equipment, materials, specimens and blood samples for single-day events.
- Retrieves items from staging areas and delivers them to designated locations.
- Completes specimen logs and required departmental or regulatory transport documentation.
- Walks materials or specimens to nearby buildings when required, including during inclement weather.
- Conducts pre-trip vehicle inspections including checking fuel levels, fluids, lights, signals, motor sounds and vehicle cleanliness.
- Sanitizes high-touch vehicle areas throughout the day.
- Fills gas tank and ensures adequate fuel levels are maintained.
- Reports vehicle irregularities or unusual sounds to the lead supervisor immediately.
- Maintains assigned vehicle operation schedules as directed by departmental leadership.
- Monitors refrigerator temperatures and documents readings in logbooks when assigned.
- Stocks specified areas with appropriate supplies including medical and facility-related items.
- Removes waste from designated trash and chemo bins.
- Conducts regular safety and equipment checks including eyewash stations, fire extinguishers and vehicle fluids.**
