Position Overview:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in delivering highquality, compliant, and employeecentered HR support across the organization. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys being deeply involved in daytoday HR work while also serving as a trusted advisor to managers.
You will support employees and leaders across multiple states in a regulated banking/mortgage environment, handling employee relations, performance management, onboarding/offboarding, leaves, policy interpretation, and HR programs. This position requires strong judgment, sound guidance, and the confidence to coach leaders through complex people situations.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Manager Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, corrective action, documentation, and resolution.
- Coach managers on performance management, expectations, feedback, and documentation best practices.
- Provide guidance on policies, procedures, and employment practices, ensuring consistent and compliant application.
- Partner closely with leadership to address sensitive employee issues with empathy, fairness, and discretion.
Core HR Operations
- Support onboarding and offboardingprocesses to ensure a consistent, highquality employee experience.
- Assist with leave of absence administration, ADA/ADAAA accommodations, and returntowork coordination.
- Respond to employee questions related to benefits, time off, and HR programs in partnership with HR Operations and Benefits.
- Support compensation activities, including offers, job evaluations, and annual cycles, ensuring alignment with internal practices and regulatory requirements.
- Draft and maintain HR documentation such as offer letters, corrective action notices, PIPs, and separation materials.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment lawsacross a multistate workforce.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records to support audits, legal review, and internal controls.
- Assist with handbook updates, policy rollouts, and required training in collaboration with HR leadership and legal counsel.
- Apply a strong compliance lens in a regulated banking/mortgage environment.
HR Programs & Initiatives
- Support companywide HR programs, including performance cycles, engagement surveys, recognition efforts, and leadership development initiatives.
- Assist with training logistics and followup related to leadership development tools (e.g., Everything DiSC).
- Use HRIS (BambooHR) to maintain data accuracy, run reports, and support process improvements.
- Contribute to HR projects and process enhancements that improve efficiency, clarity, and employee experience.
Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of five years of HR experience required, preferably within the mortgage industry.
Professional HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is preferred.
Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment laws.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to support and execute HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
