Make an impact supporting students with orthopedic impairments in a dynamic educational environment near Indio, CA. This full-time, contract role will offer the opportunity to help students maximize independence and access within their learning environment, collaborating closely with an experienced Orthopedic Impairment Specialist. You'll play a vital part in facilitating assistive technology use, ensuring safety, and supporting educational goals across multiple school sites.

Key Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Paraprofessional or Instructional Assistant, particularly in school settings
  • Expertise working with students using wheelchairs, walkers, or other mobility or assistive devices
  • CPI Certification (required)
  • Assistive Technology and Mobility Device training (required)
  • CNA or medical training highly preferred
  • Strong administrative skills and familiarity with documentation and tracking
  • Background in California Schools preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish proficiency (required)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support students under the supervision of the OI Specialist, monitoring safety and equipment use (walkers, wheelchairs, assistive devices)
  • Assist with training and instructing students on proper device usage and mobility techniques
  • Travel to multiple school locations as an itinerant assistant, adapting support based on individual student needs
  • Document and communicate student progress and challenges, collaborating with specialists, teachers, and families as part of an educational team
  • Help maintain, adjust, and troubleshoot mobility equipment as needed

This onsite position is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about student support services and inclusive education. The assignment runs from August 21, 2025, through June 4, 2026, at 40 hours per week.
