Prior Authorization Specialist (Hybrid, Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Minneapolis, MN (must reside within 50 miles)
Schedule: Hybrid — 2 in‐office days per month
Contract: 6 months to start (temp-to-hire)
Hourly Rate: $26.50/hour
Start Date: ASAP 04.06.26


Position Overview

C4 is seeking a detail-oriented Prior Authorization Specialist to support the patient order process and ensure timely access to durable medical equipment. In this role, you will navigate complex payer authorization requirements, submit and monitor requests, and secure necessary documentation to support successful claim outcomes. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, healthcare professionals, and payers to help patients receive products as quickly and efficiently as possible.

This hybrid role requires only two in-office days per month, with the majority of work performed remotely. Initial onboarding will be conducted onsite, and additional in‐office training sessions may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Determine payer requirements and authorization processes for durable medical equipment.
  • Review clinician documentation and order details to ensure compliance with payer policies.
  • Submit prior authorization requests and conduct timely follow‐up with commercial payers.
  • Educate payers on the features and benefits of company products.
  • Maintain payer portal registrations and access.
  • Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of payer requirements, workflows, and trends.
  • Ensure all orders are processed promptly and meet departmental service-level expectations.
  • Act as a liaison between Tactile Medical, healthcare teams, and patients to obtain required documents and drive orders to shipment.
  • Accurately update and maintain all patient records and database entries.
  • Support team members as needed and contribute to a collaborative, positive work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes.
  • Attend and contribute to 1:1s, team meetings, and group discussions.
  • Assist with training new team members, supporting field representatives, and managing product conversions when needed.
  • Comply with all internal policies, external regulations, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a medical device, payer process, or related environment
    • OR 6+ months of consistent productivity and quality performance in a POM (Patient Order Management) role

Preferred

  • Prior experience working with patients, clinicians, and insurance payers
  • Experience using FileMaker or Parachute systems
  • Background in DME, insurance, revenue cycle, reimbursement, or healthcare customer service
