Kitchen Staff / Event Activity Staff – BGR Event Center

Part-Time to Full-Time | Comstock Park (Grand Rapids), MI

BGR Event Center is hiring reliable, high-energy people who thrive in a fast-paced event environment. We're not a restaurant—we're an event-based venue hosting corporate parties, private celebrations, and walk-in groups. That means your schedule changes based on bookings, and every shift brings something different.

We have two paths available:

PATH 1: KITCHEN STAFF (Part-Time)
You'll prep and execute our pizza-focused menu using two commercial pizza ovens and an auto fryer. Corporate events get a simple but elevated menu; parties and walk-ins are pizza-heavy. You'll work solo or with one other person depending on event size.

• Pay: $16–$20/hour (higher rate for corporate events, based on experience)
• Schedule: Completely variable based on event bookings (evenings, weekends, occasional weekday corporate lunches)
• What you need: Food Handler or ServSafe certification (or willing to obtain), 18+, kitchen or food service experience preferred but we'll train the right person

PATH 2: HYBRID KITCHEN + ACTIVITY STAFF (Part-Time to Full-Time)
Same kitchen responsibilities as Path 1, PLUS you'll run activities on non-kitchen shifts or during multi-component events. This means refereeing laser tag and archery tag, coaching axe throwing, setting up VR equipment, and hosting/coordinating guest experiences.

• Pay: $14–$16/hour for activity shifts, $16–$20/hour for kitchen shifts
• Schedule: More hours available; mix of kitchen and activity work depending on weekly bookings
• What you need: Same food cert requirements as Path 1, plus willingness to learn guest-facing activity roles (we train on all equipment)

• Shows up when scheduled (this is non-negotiable in event work)
• Handles pressure well when events get busy
• Self-directed—you see what needs doing and do it
• Comfortable with a schedule that changes week to week based on bookings
