Position Summary

A confidential manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker to interpret blueprints and specifications; set up and operate a variety of machine tools; inspect, test, and maintain stamping dies; and accurately document tooling records. This role requires a high level of autonomy, precision, flexibility, and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and meeting specifications. Knowledge of metric measurements and the ability to assist with additional projects as needed are essential.


Essential Functions

  • Read and interpret blueprints, hand sketches, verbal instructions, written instructions, or sample parts to be copied or fitted
  • Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to cut, bore, grind, or shape parts to specified dimensions and finishes
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators
  • Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects
  • Conduct test runs of completed tools or dies to ensure parts meet specifications; make adjustments as required
  • Maintain and repair stamping dies to ensure consistent performance
  • Accurately complete tooling records, including maintenance and tooling documentation, using company-required forms and systems
  • Perform duties independently with strong attention to detail; demonstrate flexibility and willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Apply metric measurement knowledge to ensure precision and accuracy
  • Assist the Toolroom Supervisor or designated leadership with additional projects as assigned
  • Perform all work in accordance with internal quality systems, environmental standards, and customer-specific requirements


Position Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a formal toolmaker apprenticeship program or equivalent in-house training
  • Minimum of five (5) years of toolroom experience

  • Exceptional precision and control when performing detailed, high-risk work
  • Strong manual dexterity and delicate touch when operating machine tools
  • High degree of awareness and care to ensure safety of self and others
