Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An educational role is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to support students within the Chattanooga area. This full-time, on-site position involves working directly in schools to provide specialized instructional services to children who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting to their individual schedules and needs.
Location: Soddy Daisy, TN (Chattanooga area)
Position Type: Contract, full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Assignment Duration: ASAP through 5/21/26
Caseload: Varies by assignment, following students according to their schedules
Work Environment: On-site only; no remote or hybrid options
Qualifications:
- Active Tennessee Department of Education certification for Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Ability to start immediately and remain available through the assignment end date
- Experience working in educational settings with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students preferred
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with students, families, and school personnel
- Flexibility to manage varying school assignments within the location area
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instructional support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to ensure effective communication and learning
- Maintain detailed records and reports in compliance with state and district guidelines
