School-Based Therapist Summary
The School-Based Therapist provides behavioral health assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, and therapeutic services to children and adolescents within the school setting. The therapist collaborates with students, families, school personnel, healthcare providers, and community agencies to improve emotional well-being, reduce barriers to learning, and promote academic success through evidence-based behavioral health interventions.
A Day in the Life
Conduct behavioral health assessments and participate in diagnostic evaluations as appropriate.
Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans.
Provide individual, family, and group therapy.
Provide crisis intervention and safety planning.
Collaborate with school staff, families, and community providers.
Provide psychoeducation to students and families.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
Complete treatment plan reviews, outcome measures, and discharge documentation.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case consultation.
Meet productivity and quality expectations.
Participate in supervision, training, and quality improvement.
Comply with HIPAA, FERPA, Medicaid, and agency policies.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Success Requirements
Education/Experience
Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health discipline preferred. Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and families is preferred. School-based or community behavioral health experience strongly preferred.
Language Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment and solve complex problems.
Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health record systems.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Ohio LSW or LPC required. Higher behavioral health licensure designation preferred.
Other Applicable Requirements
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, child development, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
Physical Demands
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
Primary work is performed in assigned school buildings with occasional travel.
