Job DescriptionSalary:
St. Johns College High School is seeking a School Counselor to begin in August of 2026.
Theprimary responsibility of the School Counselor is to support students in their personal, social andemotional development, while promoting success, access and equity.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
Develop relationships and maintain regular contact with students to understand andadvocate for their personal, social and emotional needs.
Provide direct, short-term counseling services.
Provide crisis management and support, making appropriate referrals and serving as aliaison between the school and outside professionals.
Communicate with parents/guardians to support student growth and achievement.
Consult and communicate with faculty and administration about student needs.
Provide wellness education to students, faculty/staff and parents.
Collaborate with other school counselors, deans and academic support team.
Assist with the proctoring of ACT, SAT, PSAT and AP exams for students.
Advise students on course selection and scheduling.
Remain committed to professional growth and development as set forth by the AmericanSchool Counselor Association.
Candidate Qualifications:
At minimum, a masters degree in school counseling or a related field.
Professional experience as a school counselor, preferably in a private school setting.
A desire to connect with students and develop a relationship based on empathy andcompassion.
Willingness to contribute to a school community rooted in Lasallian, Catholic values.
Ability to uphold ASCA professional and ethical standards.
Ability to read and analyze psychological evaluations in order to apply findings to createschool-based learning plans.
Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
