We’re looking for an Associate Marketing Manager, School & Library Marketing (or Marketing Manager, School & Library Marketing for the right candidate) to join our team!
This role is central to developing and executing marketing campaigns that connect our award-winning children’s, middle grade, young adult, and adult titles with educators and librarians. Reporting to the Associate Director of School & Library Marketing and working closely with the Marketing Coordinator, you will focus on expanding our digital marketing strategy, including newsletters, classroom resources, and curated collections. The ideal candidate is a proactive marketer with experience in school & library and/or academic marketing, strong communication and presentation skills, and a passion for connecting books with educators, librarians, and readers nationwide.
What you’d be doing:
- Collaborate with Sales to develop promotions for our educational and library wholesaler partners, providing insight into the intersection of marketing and sales.
- Help shape ABRAMS’ adult academic and library marketing strategy, building campaigns and outreach efforts that connect our adult trade and academic titles with librarians and educators.
- Contribute to the full scope of School & Library Marketing initiatives, including advertising, author events, conference planning, and industry outreach.
- Brainstorm and implement marketing campaigns for select children’s and adult titles across formats and imprints, in collaboration with the Marketing, Publicity, and Sales teams.
- Develop digital marketing strategy for the School & Library department, including newsletters, educator and librarian-facing resources, curated book collections, and digital promotions.
- Manage adult school & library marketing strategy, developing campaigns, outreach, and positioning for select adult trade titles.
- Partner with Sales to plan and execute promotional opportunities for educational wholesaler accounts; provide sales support materials and gain hands-on experience in account marketing.
- Collaborate with internal marketing and publicity colleagues to align school & library campaigns with consumer and trade-facing strategies.
- Assist in planning and executing ABRAMS’ presence at key industry conferences (TLA, ALA Annual, NCTE), including logistics, book shipments, booth promotions, and author support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, librarians, and industry partners to expand awareness and adoption of ABRAMS titles.
- Present marketing plans and initiatives in internal meetings as well as on external author and agent calls, as needed.
- Write copy and oversee the creation of promotional materials, including ads, flyers, educator guides, and digital assets.
- Manage select award submissions and committee communications in coordination with the School & Library team.
- Track and analyze performance of marketing initiatives, providing insights to optimize future campaigns.
- Support departmental operations, including budgets, schedules, and cross-team communication.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- 4–6 years of experience in Marketing.
- Strong background in digital marketing, with experience creating content and managing newsletter and advertising campaigns.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling marketing copy and communicate effectively in meetings with authors, agents, and internal stakeholders.
- Knowledge of the school & library marketplace and enthusiasm for connecting with educators and librarians.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Comfortable collaborating across departments (Marketing, Publicity, Sales, Editorial) and with external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Mac OS and MS Office Suite.
- Willingness and ability to travel to industry conferences and events across the country.
- Knowledge of Monday.com, Canva, or similar tools.
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Book marketing experience.
- Experience with adult publishing, adult library, and/or academic marketing, and school and library marketing.
This position is in New York, NY, and follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence three days per week. The base salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000 per year. The final offer will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and qualifications.
