Summary
Family Tree Ministry is seeking a caring and dependable Assistant Preschool Teacher to support our Lead Teacher in providing high-quality, faith-centered learning for children ages 3–5. This role is ideal for someone who loves working with children, thrives in a team environment, and feels called to help support a nurturing, Christ-focused classroom. The Assistant Preschool Teacher helps carry out daily routines, guide learning activities, and maintain a safe, engaging environment.
Duties
- Support the Lead Preschool Teacher in creating a warm, structured, faith-based classroom.
- Assist with daily routines such as circle time, small-group activities, meals, bathroom breaks, outdoor play, and transitions.
- Help implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that encourage learning and creativity.
- Model positive behavior, kindness, and patience for children.
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom, including sanitizing toys, prepping materials, and helping with setup and cleanup.
- Support children with problem-solving, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
- Communicate with the Lead Teacher about each child’s needs, behavior, and progress.
- Build positive relationships with children and families through warmth and professionalism.
- Follow all program policies, safety procedures, and state guidelines.
- Participate in staff trainings, meetings, and professional development.
Requirements
- Experience working with young children in a childcare, preschool, or ministry setting.
- A genuine love for children and a desire to support their growth.
- Willingness to work under the direction of the Lead Teacher and follow the classroom plan.
- Understanding of basic child development and age-appropriate expectations.
- Ability to work as part of a team with patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe environment.
- Willingness to uphold and reflect the mission and values of Family Tree Ministry.
- Ability to complete required background checks and training.
Nice To Haves
- CPR First Aid certification.
- Experience volunteering or serving in a church children’s ministry program.
- Prior experience in preschool, childcare, or early childhood classrooms.
- Coursework or training in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Familiarity with faith-based or Christian early learning environments.
- Additional training in behavior support, social-emotional learning, or trauma-informed care.
- A passion for continuing education and professional development.
