Title: Director of Academic Support / Learning Intervention Coordinator
(10-Month Faculty & Program Leadership Role)
Reporting Relationships
Reports to the Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction and the Principal. Collaborates closely with the Student Services team, counselors, administrators, teachers, students, families, and external partners, including Chicago Public Schools (CPS).
Overview
Resurrection College Prep High School seeks a mission-driven, data-informed, and student-centered professional to serve as Director of Academic Support/Learning Intervention Coordinator. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating academic support services for diverse learners while providing direct instruction and intervention. The position blends instructional expertise, program coordination, and collaborative leadership to ensure equitable access to rigorous learning experiences and timely academic interventions. This role reflects contemporary best practices across Illinois secondary schools and may function as either a Learning Intervention Coordinator or Director of Academic Support, depending on the candidate’s experience, licensure, and demonstrated leadership in MTSS and academic intervention systems.
Program Focus
The Academic Support Program provides tiered academic interventions, learning strategies instruction, and progress monitoring for students requiring additional support. Through a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), the program ensures early identification of need, evidence-based interventions, and continuous collaboration with faculty and families.
Summary of Responsibilities
Instructional & Intervention Duties
● Teach two sections of Learning Strategies or equivalent academic support courses focused on executive functioning, study skills, self-advocacy, and academic independence.
● Serve as a learning interventionist, providing targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions aligned to student needs.
● Monitor individual student academic progress and adjust interventions based on data.
● Support students with diverse learning profiles, including those with IEPs, 504 Plans, and other documented learning needs.
MTSS Leadership & Program Coordination
● Lead and manage the school’s MTSS framework using the Branching Minds platform.
● Facilitate grade-level MTSS team meetings, including agenda-setting, data review, intervention planning, and follow-up.
● Ensure fidelity of MTSS implementation across academic departments.
● Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation of interventions and outcomes.
● Identify students who may require evaluation or re-evaluation for services and coordinate referral processes.
Collaboration & Instructional Support
● Partner with teachers to support differentiated instruction and inclusive classroom practices.
● Provide consultation and coaching to faculty regarding accommodations, instructional strategies, and intervention design.
● Support implementation and monitoring of student accommodation plans.
● Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and Student Services staff to ensure a cohesive support system.
● Support department chairs and instructional leaders in aligning classroom instruction with intervention strategies and MTSS goals.
Assessment, Evaluation & External Partnerships
● Coordinate testing and re-testing processes for students through partnerships with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and other external evaluators.
● Interpret psychoeducational evaluations and translate findings into actionable instructional and intervention plans.
● Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences, and articulation meetings.
● Support transition planning for students moving from middle school to high school, ensuring continuity of academic supports.
● Monitor and support students transitioning from sophomore to junior year to ensure readiness for increased academic rigor.
Data, Compliance & Program Management
● Maintain accurate records related to interventions, accommodations, and progress monitoring.
● Utilize achievement and progress-monitoring data to inform decision-making.
● Support development and monitoring of the Academic Support Program budget, policies, and procedures.
● Assist with admissions, placement, and transition planning for incoming students requiring academic support.
● Design or co-design professional learning opportunities for faculty related to MTSS, differentiated instruction, and executive functioning, as appropriate to the scope of the role.
Specific Stakeholder Responsibilities
Students:
Provide direct instruction, intervention, and individualized academic support. Monitor progress, foster self-advocacy, and guide students toward increased independence.
Faculty:
Collaborate with teachers to strengthen differentiated instruction and intervention practices. Provide professional learning, possible and occasional co-teaching, ongoing consultation.
Families:
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, interventions, and support plans.
Programmatic:
Lead MTSS systems, manage Branching Minds, coordinate evaluations, and ensure alignment with school mission and academic goals.
Qualifications
Education & Licensure
● Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Special Education, Learning Disabilities, Educational Psychology, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field strongly preferred.
● Valid Illinois Professional Educator License required.
● LBS1 (Learning Behavior Specialist)
● Preferred endorsements include:
○ Reading Specialist and/or Math Endorsement
Experience
● Minimum of 3–5 years experience in a secondary school setting.
● Demonstrated experience with MTSS/RTI, academic interventions, and progress monitoring.
● Experience teaching learning strategies or intervention-based coursework.
● Familiarity with IEPs, 504 Plans, and psychoeducational testing.

Faculty Expectations
As a faculty member, the Director of Academic Support / Learning Intervention Coordinator is expected to:

● Maintain accurate grading, attendance, and student records.
● Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
● Attend and actively participate in professional development, meetings, liturgies, and school events.
● Uphold all expectations outlined in the Faculty Contract and Handbook.
● Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Physical Activity Requirements
