Position Summary

The Director of Business Operations is a senior operational leader responsible for driving enterprise execution, operational scalability, and organizational performance across multiple regions and functions. This role provides strategic oversight of production, staffing, operational systems, and leadership development while ensuring the organization has the structure and resources necessary to sustain growth.

The Director plays a critical role in translating executive vision into operational reality by aligning field execution, business systems, and leadership accountability. This position requires a balance of strategic thinking, operational rigor, and hands-on leadership across complex, fast-scaling environments.

Core Responsibilities

Enterprise Operational Leadership

  • Strategize, implement, and oversee operational frameworks that support scalable growth.
  • Ensure consistent execution standards across regions, business units, and field teams.
  • Translate company strategy into structured operational roadmaps.
  • Drive operational maturity through systems, accountability, and leadership alignment.

Multi-Region Performance Oversight

  • Oversee operational performance across regions, crews, and project pipelines.
  • Align manpower planning with backlog forecasts and expansion initiatives.
  • Ensure production consistency and delivery reliability across markets.
  • Maintain field visibility through regional engagement and operational reviews.

Strategic Resource & Capacity Planning

  • Ensure the organization has adequate personnel, equipment, and operational infrastructure to meet demand.
  • Partner with leadership on workforce planning and expansion strategy.
  • Optimize resource deployment to improve productivity and utilization.
  • Support long-range operational scaling initiatives.

Financial & Business Performance Alignment

  • Partner with Finance to align operational execution with financial outcomes.
  • Monitor key cost drivers including labor, equipment utilization, and subcontractor spend.
  • Support regional P&L awareness and margin improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate financial impact of operational strategies and structural changes.

Leadership Development & Organizational Maturity

  • Develop and mentor operational leaders and high-potential managers.
  • Strengthen leadership accountability and execution discipline.
  • Support succession planning and leadership bench development.
  • Elevate management capabilities across the organization.

Cross-Functional Enterprise Alignment

  • Serve as a senior liaison between executive leadership and operational teams.
  • Strengthen alignment across Operations, HR, Finance, Safety, and Support functions.
  • Ensure operational initiatives are coordinated across departments.
  • Improve enterprise-wide communication and execution clarity.

Systems, Process & Infrastructure Development

  • Lead adoption and optimization of operational systems (Fieldwire, HRIS, fleet platforms, reporting tools).
  • Standardize performance dashboards and reporting frameworks.
  • Build scalable processes that support rapid organizational growth.
  • Evaluate operational impact of new systems and initiatives.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Reinforce operational discipline across multi-state environments.
  • Support audits, risk assessments, and operational governance initiatives.
  • Establish accountability frameworks that drive consistency and compliance.

Executive Decision Support

  • Provide data-driven insights and operational analysis to executive leadership.
  • Identify enterprise risks, bottlenecks, and scaling constraints.
  • Lead or support strategic initiatives including expansion, restructuring, or transformation.
  • Contribute to long-range planning and organizational design.

Qualifications

Required

  • 8–12+ years of operational leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading multi-team or multi-region operations.
  • Background in construction, telecommunications, utilities, or infrastructure environments.
  • Demonstrated success scaling operations and building structured processes.
  • Strong leadership and organizational development capability.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience scaling regional operations into multi-state platforms.
  • Telecommunications or OSP construction experience.
  • Experience implementing enterprise systems or operational transformations.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or operational excellence exposure.
