Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and qualify laser welding processes for manufacturing applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve laser welding process, equipment, and quality issues.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and calibration of laser welding systems.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure weldability and manufacturability of components.
  • Establish and implement quality control measures, inspection techniques, and NDT methods for laser welded products.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laser welding efficiency, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to production staff on laser welding operations and safety protocols.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of direct experience developing and optimizing industrial laser welding processes (e.g., fiber, Nd:YAG, CO2).
  • Strong understanding of metallurgy, material science, and weldability of various metals and alloys.
  • Proven experience with laser welding process development, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with weld fixture design principles, automation integration, and robotic programming for laser welding applications.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with robotic programming or automation systems for laser welding cells.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP).
  • Familiarity with advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) methods beyond visual inspection (e.g., CT scanning, eddy current).
  • Experience with simulation software for thermal, stress, or optical analysis related to welding.
