Job Title: Quality Control Technician – Sterile Processing
Location: Long Beach, California (90805)
Job Type: Full-Time | 14-Week Contract
Schedule: 40 Hours/Week | 8 Hours/Day | 5 Days/Week
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a detail-oriented Quality Control Technician to support sterile processing operations within a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is essential to maintaining patient safety by ensuring surgical instruments meet the highest standards of cleanliness, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination of surgical instruments using appropriate PPE and established protocols
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble surgical instruments and trays
- Conduct detailed quality inspections to verify instruments are clean, functional, and free of defects
- Assemble and package instrument sets in accordance with manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs) and internal SOPs
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including washers, disinfectors, and autoclaves
- Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, infection control guidelines, and facility policies
- Accurately document sterilization cycles, tracking logs, and inventory records
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or malfunctioning instruments
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of instruments and sterile supplies
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of sterile processing work areas
- Communicate quality concerns, workflow issues, and improvement opportunities to leadership
- Participate in training programs, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support overall operational efficiency, accuracy, and safety within the department
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in sterile processing
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CIS (Certified Instrument Specialist) certification required
- Strong understanding of sterile processing workflows and surgical instrumentation
- Knowledge of sterilization methods, infection prevention, and ANSI/AAMI standards
- Experience operating sterilization and decontamination equipment
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume setting
- Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment
