Heavy Equipment Operator (Excavation)

The Heavy Equipment Operator will perform precision excavation, safe soil removal, and equipment inspection. This role requires proficiency in operating excavators, backhoes, earth grading equipment, and heavy equipment truck driving. Formal training and certifications in equipment operations that meet OSHA standards are highly preferred.


Essential Functions

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operate excavators and other heavy equipment with precision and efficiency for excavation, grading, and soil removal activities.

Safely and efficiently perform excavation work, ensuring proper soil removal and handling safety protocols and project

requirements.

Safely load and unload heavy equipment like excavators and backhoes from trailers.

Conduct regular inspections of equipment to ensure functionality and safety and perform basic maintenance or report issues to

the maintenance team.

Grade and level land surfaces as needed, maintaining accuracy and ensuring quality finish.

Adhere to all company and regulatory safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance.

Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure the timely and successful completion of

projects.

Troubleshoot equipment issues and work to resolve any problems efficiently and effectively.

Assist with site preparation and clean-up as required.


Required Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator and other heavy machinery with a minimum of 2 years focusing on excavation and soil removal.
  • Knowledge and experience in earth grading, leveling, and precision excavation techniques.
  • Strong ability to conduct equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance tasks.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and best practices when operating heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging environments

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to [50 lbs].
  • Ability to operate equipment for extended periods and work in outdoor, potentially hazardous environments.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical strength, such as equipment inspection and maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or training in heavy equipment operations.
  • First aid or safety certifications.
  • Previous experience in construction or other related industries.
