Description
The Planning Specialist will create the daily, weekly, and monthly production plan while ensuring packaging supplies are stocked by working with other members of the operations and planning team to deliver on customer requirements. In addition, this individual will be responsible for managing the prepackaged inbound forecast and inbound railcar forecast versus what customers have shipped, in order to effectively manage the inbound pipeline relative to warehouse capacities. Other responsibilities will include creating reports, streamlining processes, and identifying planning gaps to boost efficiency and drive ongoing improvements.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
- Develop and maintain a pipeline model to provide visibility into the railcar status and dwell times.
- Establish, monitor, and communicate a detailed daily and weekly production needs for all parts of the operation to meet customer requirements.
- Responsible for communicating and updating production plan daily in the WMS.
- Develop reporting solutions to provide timely updates for customer meetings and enhance transparency.
- Develop and maintain capacity reporting to optimize railyard and packaging operations.
- Implement an operational supplies planning system that incorporates reorder signals to accurately determine packaging supply requirements, ensuring lead times align with the established packaging schedule.
- Support EOM supply inventory reporting and the subsequent reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Develop and manage a process for nonconforming and nonmoving supplies.
- Complete Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for supply-related issues.
- Lead project work focused on automation initiatives to improve planning processes, team efficiency, and standardization.

Requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 1-5 years of experience in logistics planning or materials management.
- Background in inventory management and generation of systems to manage process.
- Self-starter (requires minimal supervision).
- Strong problem solver with proven ability to manage issues.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- High level of organizational and prioritization skills with proven ability to multi-task.
- High level of detail-orientation.
