This position is responsible for performing failure analysis on I/L shorts and opens from ET and customer returns.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Gathering scrap boards with inner layer shorts and opens for evaluation and analysis
- Analyzing and mapping out of defects to determine the location and cause of electrical failures
- Preparation and evaluation of cross-sections including using routers, wet saws, and grinding wheels
- Maintain documentation such as failure analysis packages, I/L scrap charts, and customer report reports
- Presenting failure analysis results to management
- Assist and support engineers on process improvement and troubleshooting work
- Operating SEM/EDX (Scanning Electron Microscope)
- Participate in TQM activity to support layer work center process improvements
- Maintain a positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.
- This position may require overtime for coverage on alternate shifts and weekends.
- Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of PCB construction and manufacturing techniques.
- Must have excellent communication skills and have the ability/flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity or experience with customer specifications/requirements.
- Must be a self-starter who is capable of taking a project from concept to completion.
- Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime (weekdays and weekends) when needed.
- Proficient computer experience a plus - Microsoft Office-Outlook/Word/Excel.
- AOI, ET, Dry Lab experience preferable.
- Hand and eye dexterity to perform cross section preparations, (e.g., saw cutting and grinding).
- Ability to use a Microscope required.
- Past participation on QITs or leading teams a plus.
