About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Manager to join our leadership team and build our human resources function from the ground up. This is a critical role that will oversee all aspects of HR for our growing team of delivery associates, dispatchers, fleet managers, and operations staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics, transportation, or similar high-volume hourly workforce environments and be comfortable in a fast-paced, operations-focused setting.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for recruitment, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, and creating a culture that attracts and retains top talent. Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding

- Lead full-cycle recruitment for delivery associates, managers, and support staff, maintaining a healthy hiring pipeline with 2 drivers per route (approximately 70-80 drivers)
- Develop and execute recruiting strategies using job boards, social media, referral programs, and community partnerships
- Manage the complete onboarding process including background checks (via Accurate), drug testing (4-panel for onboarding, 5-panel post-accident), MVR checks, I-9 verification, and Amazon system enrollment
- Coordinate DOT driver qualification process for regulated drivers, including medical exams, safety performance history investigations, and DOT training compliance
- Design and deliver new hire orientation programs that set clear expectations and promote company culture
Compliance & Policy Management
- Ensure full compliance with Amazon DSP Program Policies, federal employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA), state labor laws, and DOT regulations
- Develop and maintain employee handbook covering all required policies including anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, equal opportunity employment, grievance mechanisms, and worker safety
- Maintain accurate employee files (paper and electronic) with all required documentation, ensuring secure storage and proper retention schedules
- Coordinate with DSP Navigator Program for labor and employment legal support and utilize the HR hotline for day-to-day workforce management challenges
- Oversee OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping and reporting requirements
Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Partner with ADP/Paycom for seamless payroll processing, time tracking, and scheduling operations
- Administer health insurance benefits, ensuring competitive offerings that attract and retain talent
- Manage PTO program (minimum 0.04 hours per hour worked, 120-hour cap) and ensure accurate tracking and payouts upon termination
- Ensure pay accuracy from day one with clear communication of compensation structure, overtime calculations, bonuses, and incentive programs
- Administer Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and other wellness initiatives
Employee Relations & Culture
- Build and maintain positive employee relations, creating feedback loops and communication channels where delivery associates feel heard and valued
- Investigate and resolve employee concerns, grievances, and workplace conflicts fairly and promptly
- Implement recognition and incentive programs including driver bonuses and team-building activities
- Develop career advancement pathways, including Lead DA programs for high-performing drivers
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data to identify retention opportunities
Training & Development
- Coordinate Amazon's mandatory training programs including KNet virtual courses, Enhanced Road Test (ERT), DOT driver training, and AMXL-specific training
- Ensure managers and workers receive appropriate training on company policies, safety procedures, and Amazon's Supply Chain Standards
- Track training completion rates and compliance with Amazon's training requirements
- Develop internal training programs for leadership development and operational excellence
Safety & Risk Management
- Coordinate post-accident drug and alcohol testing within required timeframes
- Manage reasonable suspicion testing protocols and documentation
- Partner with operations on safety incident investigations and follow-up actions
- Support workers' compensation claims and disability leave management
HR Systems & Reporting
- Maintain employee data in Amazon DSP Portal and manage driver credentials and access
- Generate HR metrics and reports including headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, training compliance, and workforce analytics
- Support business planning with workforce forecasting as the company scales to 40 vans and beyond
What You Bring
- Experience: 3-5+ years of HR experience, preferably logistics, transportation, or other high-volume recruitment environment. Experience with the Amazon DSP ecosystem (Cortex portal) is highly preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field (SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a major plus). - Autonomy: Proven ability to make high-judgment decisions regarding terminations and legal compliance without daily supervision. Experience building HR programs and policies from the ground up. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion
- Local Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, state wage and hour laws)
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce of 50–100+ Delivery Associates and corporate employees.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment with flexibility for occasional early morning, evening, or weekend coverage
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary: $60,000 - $65,000 base, with performance bonus potential up to $30,000 (total compensation up to $95,000)
