ABOUT THE ROLE
As Accounting Manager, you'll lead high-value financial management for a portfolio of special district clients-from water and sanitation to fire and recreation. You'll mentor a team, present directly to boards, and be the financial linchpin for community-impacting entities.
You won't just manage spreadsheet-you'll drive outcomes.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead the Numbers
- Maintain general ledgers and produce financial statements
- Manage payroll, AP/AR, and compliance for assigned clients
- Support budget preparation, forecasting, and audit coordination
Be a Client Partner
- Present reports and guide financial conversations
- Provide financial support for clients in all stages of development
- Step into Acting Accounting Manager role as needed
Develop People & Processes
- Mentor junior staff and support quality assurance
- Identify and implement workflow improvements to boost efficiency
- WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance
- 3+ years experience in government or nonprofit accounting
- Strong Excel and fund accounting knowledge
- Clear communicator and collaborator
Preferred:
- Title 32 special district knowledge
- Governmental accounting software experience
- Progress toward CPA a plus
- Real estate industry experience a plus
