Job Description
The Psychiatric Provider is responsible for delivering high-quality psychiatric and medical services to clients receiving care within Freedom House Recovery Center's Crisis Unit and Outpatient Programs. The provider ensures clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, timely documentation, and collaborative patient care while supporting the organization's mission and operational needs.
Clinical Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, screenings, diagnostic assessments, medication management, patient placement recommendations, crisis intervention, and brief therapeutic interventions.
Develop and approve initial diagnoses, treatment recommendations, and psychiatric treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Prescribe medications in accordance with accepted medical standards, FHRC policies, and all applicable state, federal, Medicaid, Medicare, and Managed Care Organization (MCO) requirements.
Complete all clinical documentation, treatment plans, orders, and medical record entries accurately and within required timeframes.
Provide psychiatric assessments and follow-up services through telepsychiatry as needed.
Provide timely consultation to clinical staff regarding psychiatric care, treatment recommendations, and crisis management.
Ensure appropriate documentation of all patient encounters and clinical services.
Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to client needs while maintaining high standards of patient-centered care.
Collaboration and Leadership
Collaborate with Program Directors, Clinical Supervisors, nursing staff, medical providers, and administration to ensure coordinated and effective delivery of psychiatric services.
Assist the organization with provider credentialing and managed care enrollment by providing requested documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Participate in staff education and training by providing clinical consultation and educational presentations as requested.
Attend required staff meetings, trainings, in-services, committee meetings, and other organizational functions.
Schedule and Coverage Expectations
Psychiatric Providers assigned to the Crisis Unit work on a 7-days-on / 7-days-off rotation.
During each assigned seven-day rotation, providers are expected to meet the following coverage requirements:
On-Site Coverage
Maintain an on-site presence in the Crisis Unit for a minimum of four (4) days during each rotation.
Be present on-site from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on scheduled coverage days.
Coverage must include:
Three (3) weekdays selected by the provider and approved in advance.
One (1) weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).
On-Call Coverage
Remain available by telephone from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on scheduled workdays to address urgent clinical matters.
Virtual Coverage
Be available for virtual psychiatric consultation from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on scheduled workdays, as needed.
Additional on-site, on-call, or virtual coverage may be required based on patient acuity, census, operational needs, or the direction of organizational leadership.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in assigned on-call rotations and assist with coverage for other providers when needed.
Maintain reliable attendance and adhere to the approved work schedule.
Comply with all Freedom House Recovery Center employment policies, credentialing requirements, documentation standards, and timekeeping procedures.
Complete all required administrative duties, including timely submission of hours worked and other employment-related documentation.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the delivery of quality behavioral health services and organizational operations.
Requirements
Board certified or eligible, preferably in Psychiatry, with experience in the field of mental health and addiction medicine.
