An opportunity is available for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse with specialized skills in neurological critical care. This role supports a dynamic 3G Neuro ICU unit providing high-level intensive care to patients needing advanced monitoring and interventions.

Situated in the Washington Navy Yard area of Washington, DC, this position offers access to a vibrant urban setting rich in history, culture, and government landmarks. The location provides excellent transit options and diverse dining and recreation choices.

Job Type:
Contract position with a schedule of three 12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:00). Up to two weeks of night shifts may be required in a six-week rotation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert nursing care in the Neuro ICU unit, utilizing special equipment such as EVD, Raumedic Bolt, Arctic Sun, CVVH, and Lytic catheters.
  • Occasionally manage Flo-Trakker and Pulmonary Artery catheters.
  • Care for patients requiring conscious sedation, intracranial pressure monitoring, and ventilator support.
  • Float as needed within units of equivalent or lower acuity levels, including other ICUs or Intermediate Care units, ensuring flexibility in patient care assignments.
  • Maintain adherence to all clinical protocols and standards, including flu vaccination requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current or pending DC nursing license with proof of pending status required at submission and license in hand before start.
  • Minimum two years ICU experience; new travelers are welcome.
  • Certifications required: BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, ACLS; CCRN preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam, minimum 80% overall with 100% on lethal rhythms.
  • Skills in conscious sedation, ICP monitoring, ventilator management, Level 1 trauma care, pulmonary artery lines, IV starts, and phlebotomy preferred.
