Automation Engineer | DeWitt, MI

Salary Range: $83,000 - $128,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
• Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial robots.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system failures and performance issues.
• Optimize existing automation systems for improved efficiency, quality, and throughput.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for automation systems and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new automation technologies.
• Conduct FAT/SAT and commission new automated equipment and production lines.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMI/SCADA development, and industrial networking protocols.
• Proven experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting automation systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex control system issues and machinery.
• Familiarity with robotics, vision systems, or motion control applications.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with industrial robotics programming and integration (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB).
• Proficiency in machine vision systems setup and programming (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
• Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) integration.
• Knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 62061) and safety circuit design.
