Augustana University invites applications for the position of full-time Landscaping Coordinator (General Maintenance) in Facility Services. This position operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends to assist with campus events and on-call needs.

The Landscaping Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the beauty, safety, and overall appearance of the university’s grounds and college-owned property.

The duties, competencies, and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain all campus grounds during the growing season to ensure a healthy, aesthetically pleasing environment.

  • Participate in the general maintenance of college-owned property, including athletic fields.

  • Operate lawn and landscaping equipment including riding mowers, small tractors, forklifts, pickup trucks, hand mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, and related tools.

  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on grounds equipment, including blade sharpening, oil changes, and cleaning.

  • Plant and maintain flowers and landscape beds in consultation with the Director of Facility Services, including seasonal installation and removal.

  • Monitor and maintain the health of trees, shrubs, and hedges.

  • Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and weed control treatments as directed.

  • Support campus recycling and solid waste removal initiatives, including litter pickup and maintaining trash receptacles.

  • Assist with delivery of recyclable materials to approved facilities.

  • Inspect and verify completion of assigned work orders.

  • During periods when outdoor work is limited, assist with general maintenance in campus buildings and residences, including basic HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks.

Qualifications for this position:

  • High school diploma required.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Strong desire to work outdoors and contribute to maintaining a beautiful campus environment.

  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to prioritize work, solve problems, and complete tasks with attention to detail and aesthetics.

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and work in fluctuating weather conditions.

  • Experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, athletic field care, equipment operation, fertilization, or weed control is preferred but not required.
