Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A special education teaching opportunity is available for a dedicated professional to support middle and high school students with Autism in a self-contained classroom setting. This position focuses on a transition class tailored for high-functioning Autism, serving grades 8 and 9 in a combined Autism support environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in social studies, math, social skills, and English Language Arts
- Support the development of social skills and manage some behavioral needs of students
- Collaborate with two or more paraprofessionals to create a supportive learning environment
- Plan and execute lessons for six students (with a maximum of eight) to meet individual education plans
- Manage a daily schedule comprising five instructional blocks and one planning block, totaling 7:10 AM to 2:40 PM, Monday through Friday
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification (Emergency certification is not accepted)
- Experience working with students on the Autism spectrum is preferred
- Ability to foster social and academic growth in a self-contained classroom
- Willingness to work closely with paraprofessionals and other support staff
- Open to new graduates who are passionate about special education and autism support

- School Level: Middle School (Grades 8-9)
- Contract Type: Non-School Year (NSY) contract
- Lunch: 30 minutes allotted daily
