Job Description

At HumanGood, we believe that dining should be an experience, one that nourishes the body, brings people together, and sparks moments of joy. We're hiring a Director, Culinary to lead the strategy and execution of our culinary programs across multiple Life Plan Communities.

In this high-impact role, you’ll work side-by-side with culinary leaders and dining teams to bring our hospitality vision to life. You’ll guide everything from menu innovation and team development to quality assurance and regulatory excellence, ensuring that every meal reflects the care and community we’re proud to offer.

  • Lead and support culinary teams in our self-operated communities across all levels of living—from independent living to skilled nursing.

  • Create and implement recipe systems, menu cycles, and inventory tools that reflect our vision: fresh, authentic food that residents love.

  • Coach and develop local culinary leaders to ensure consistent, high-quality execution of menus across communities.

  • Provide on-site support during rollouts, openings, transitions, and special initiatives.

  • Champion culinary compliance and food safety standards that meet or exceed all local, state, and federal guidelines.

  • Partner with the Vice President of Hospitality to shape and roll out strategic priorities that elevate the resident experience.

  • Help design and deliver training programs focused on technical skills, culinary excellence, and hospitality standards.

  • Collaborate with procurement to balance enterprise efficiencies with community-level flexibility and flavor.

  • Monitor community performance, manage budgets, and support cost-effective, high-quality dining operations.

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with residents, dining teams, and cross-functional leaders.

  • Regularly gather feedback, visit kitchens and dining rooms, and act on what you learn to drive continuous improvement.

  • Serve as a connector between frontline teams and executive leadership—making sure innovation, insights, and excellence flow in both directions.

  • Provide interim leadership when communities face staffing transitions and help bring special events to life with culinary creativity.

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Degree in culinary arts or other formal culinary education and/or advanced training preferred.
  • 7+ years of culinary leadership experience, with a strong background in multi-site or regional roles.

  • Proven ability to build, coach, and inspire teams in a fast-paced and mission-driven environment.

  • Deep knowledge of food quality, presentation, safety, and operational standards.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • ServSafe certification.

  • A passion for elevating the dining experience in senior living and a belief that food has the power to create connection and leave a legacy.

  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the time to support communities and teams across the region.
