SUMMARY
The Production Worker inspects donated items for defects and determines their appropriate outcome based on established quality standards. A Production Worker’s responsibilities include sorting, pricing, tagging, and preparing both textile and non-textile items for sale, recycling, or disposal. The Production Worker requires meeting daily production quotas while maintaining a low error rate, adhering to safety protocols, and being available to work on weekends.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Removes item from bins or carts for close inspection to determine if item is saleable.
- Scans clothing/textile items for defects such as holes, rips, tears, misaligned or missing fasteners or trim, and variations in color of fabric for clothing items. Examines fabric for holes or stains. Sorts textiles to determine quality and price or if item goes to As-Is, bale, or dump if appropriate
- For non-clothing items, scans items for defects such as cracks, rust, broken or missing pieces, stains, and if item is operational. Sort and price item accordingly. Cleans item as needed.
- Hangs, tags, and prices textile and non-textile items.
- Works at different work stations as production needs require or stocking as needs arises.
- Must meet the following production standards:
• Grade and sort 2.5 carts or 486 units per hour with an error rate of less than 5%.
• Complete (sort, hang, tag) ½ of a rack of clothing per hour or complete (sort, price) 4 totes of non-textile items per hour.
- Conducts work in a safe and responsible manner utilizing protective clothing and equipment and complies with safety standards.
- Responsible for awareness of and adherence to all company and safety policies and procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather condition and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
