JFT is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Loveland, CO.

JFT offers some hybrid flexibility, but candidates must be within commuting distance to the office. The anticipated closing date for this posting is 10/31/25 and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

Job Function:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes and systems, including large scale steel fabrication of pressure vessels and heavy-wall nuclear components. This role blends manufacturing engineering with material procurement for thick-section steel and weldments. The Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with cross functional teams to ensure seamless production operations.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

Process Design: Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes. Analyze production methods to identify opportunities for optimization. Source, qualify, and track procurement of heavy plate, forgings, and specialty alloys for nuclear service. Coordinate mill certifications, traceability, and transport of oversized stock.

Heavy Fabrication: Develop cutting, forming, and welding processes for thick-section carbon and stainless steels. Specify preheat requirements, distortion control, and post-weld heat treatment. Design and fabricate tooling and fixtures. Support the implementation and execution of AWS & ASME weld processes for GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SAW. Provide logistical support for outside processing and manage expediting of key components. Prepare project specific factory acceptance testing equipment.

Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product launches and continuous improvements. Provide technical guidance and training to production staff. Provide design guidance to promote design for manufacturing. Assist with development of cost estimates, production schedules, and other project management tasks.

Problem Solving: Disposition NCRs and Deviation Requests. Address issues in the production line and provide technical support to resolve challenges. Analyze root causes of production problems and implement solutions.

Quality Control: Monitor and improve product quality using statistical methods and QC techniques. Ensure manufacturing processes comply with industry standards, AWS, ASME, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines. Develop and maintain appropriate documentation.

Equipment Management: Recommend, select, commission, and optimize manufacturing equipment. Work with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is properly maintained.

Analysis: Collect and analyze data to monitor manufacturing performance and process metrics. Create reports for management review.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related field with at least 5 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Previous experience with production planning, process improvements, monitoring and controlling.
  • Conversant with nuclear design and manufacturing procedures.
  • Knowledge of drawing principles and standards, GD&T, EFD'S, P&ID's and MFD's.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and fabricating complex mechanical equipment, including metal welding and CNC machining.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, CAD, ERP systems, and other engineering tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possess business acumen and strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Awareness of relevant EH&S considerations.
  • Skilled in manufacturing tooling and equipment under ISO 9001 or NQA-1 Quality Assurance Programs.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work with export-controlled items.

Typical Working Conditions:

Primarily an office environment with work periodically performed in the fabrication/machine shop and outdoor testing areas. Depending on the project, there may be occasional travel to customer job sites. JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work on a computer (standing or sitting) for most of the day and use standard office equipment. The ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors is essential. May lift and carry objects, materials, or equipment, typically under 50 pounds. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing and crawling to access and inspect equipment or systems is also necessary.
