Job Posting: Parish Administrator
Location: [Newport, RI]
Schedule: 20 hours/week (Monday–Friday, 10 am–2 pm or alternative schedule of 4 days x 5 hours)
Our client’s local Church is a vibrant, welcoming community with a deep commitment to worship, service, and fellowship. They are currently seeking a Parish Administrator who is highly organized, communicative, and ready to support the parish's life across worship, communications, events, and administration.
This position is perfect for someone who enjoys variety in their work, takes initiative, and finds joy in keeping a busy and beloved parish running smoothly.
Responsibilities Include:
Worship Support
- Prepare service bulletins and worship leaflets with input from the Rector and music leaders
- Assist ministry leaders in scheduling ushers, readers, acolytes, and other worship volunteers
Communications
- Draft and distribute a weekly e-newsletter and parish-wide announcements
- Maintain and update the website with events, photos, and news
Parish Life
- Provide administrative support for seasonal and annual events
Parish Administration
- Manage the parish calendar, including scheduling events, meetings, and building usage
- Maintain and update the parish database and give records (in coordination with the Rector, Vestry, and Stewardship Ministry)
- Oversee day-to-day office operations, including volunteers, files, archives, and general facility requests
- Provide administrative support to the Vestry and other leadership teams
- Follow best practices as outlined in the Episcopal Manual of Church Business Affairs
✅ What We’re Looking For:
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools
- Experience with websites, newsletters, and/or donor management software a plus
- A warm, welcoming presence and excellent communication skills
- A commitment to confidentiality, discretion, and collaboration
- Experience in a church or nonprofit setting is helpful, but not required
Additional Details:
This part-time, on-site position reports to the Rector (or Senior Warden in the Rector’s absence). Occasional evening or weekend hours may be requested based on parish needs.
