Our client is seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join their precision manufacturing team in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented craftsman who takes pride in building and maintaining high-quality tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges. You’ll be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and repairing tooling to meet exacting specifications.
1st shift, Monday-Thursday
Pay rate: $28-38/HR
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and models to determine materials, dimensions, and fabrication methods.
- Plan layouts, compute dimensions, and determine assembly methods and operational sequences.
- Measure, mark, and machine metal stock using precision instruments.
- Set up and operate a variety of machine tools, verifying conformance of parts to specifications.
- Assemble, fit, and align components, ensuring accurate tolerances and dimensions.
- Heat treat, polish, and finish tools or die components as required.
- Inspect and verify die cavities and assemblies for proper fit and function.
- Diagnose tool and die performance issues and recommend or execute design modifications.
- Maintain and repair dies by dismantling, reworking, and reassembling parts.
- Adhere to ISO9001 procedures and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Perform routine inspections and ensure all quality checks are completed per company procedures.
- Collaborate with supervisors and experienced team members to resolve tooling or metal-forming challenges.
Qualifications
- Two-year technical degree or certificate in Tool & Die Making or at least five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Proficient in geometry, trigonometry, and applied math for precision layout and machining.
- Ability to set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools.
- Solid problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
