Summary: The Business Development Representative will work closely with the Marketing, Branch Operations and Financial Education departments to identify opportunities, implement tactics and track results. Support and execute business development and community involvement plans to create awareness, enhance the credit union’s image and contribute to the achievement of credit union goals. Foster business and community leader relationships, and provide excellent member service to members and prospective members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Conduct workplace enrollments and participate in events that provide opportunities for the credit union to connect with prospective new members. Schedule, publicize and conduct new employee orientation presentations, on-site visits and benefit fairs.
  • Represent APGFCU at community and professional functions to help ensure communities are aware of the credit union; promote the credit union’s services.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of credit union products and services, credit union philosophy, brand and professional cross-selling and service skills.
  • Participate in the development of marketing material used for business development efforts.
  • As new initiatives are introduced, work with Marketing to develop messaging strategies for existing and prospective business partners.

Community Involvement

  • Identify and cultivate long-term relationships with strategic partners in the community, including memberships in local business and community organizations, such as chambers, rotaries and local committees.
  • Assist business development directors, branch managers, financial educators and other employees with local community activities.
  • Recommend and facilitate opportunities to deepen individual and credit union representation and participation in community involvement initiatives to ensure all aspects of the marketplace are covered.
  • As a primary link to the community, provide a constant flow of feedback from community and business leaders to APGFCU leadership.

Other

  • Requires schedule flexibility for evening and weekend activities.
  • Responsible for special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
  • Provide monthly reporting detailing all efforts and results for new membership generation, business development on-site visits, community involvement/event participation and special projects.

Additional: Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma required; degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business or a related field preferred. Experience can be credited in lieu of education.

Experience: Two or more years of sales or relationship management experience required, preferably in the financial services industry. Proven track record in community engagement leadership in either a volunteer or employee role.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers, clients, members and the public.

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Project management and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work in an unstructured environment. Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills, decisive, with a “get it done” mentality.
  • This position requires approximately 80% travel. Generally, within the local field of membership.

Compensation information: Offers are based on experience and education.

$52,416.00 - $65,520.00 annually
