We are seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our team. This role involves operating forklifts, loading and unloading trucks, and maintaining inventory accuracy. You'll work primarily on the docks, with occasional replenishment duties in the building. Our facility uses Stand-Up Hyster brand forklifts, and we offer both day and night shifts with flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment as required.
- Respond to alarms and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain neat and orderly staging areas.
- Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and handcarts.
- Maintain proper documentation for materials, including batches, material changes, and material locations.
- Assist with physical inventory and perform cycle counts.
- Stage resins and components to work orders and allocate materials to appropriate production areas.
- Perform daily cleaning for all Blender/Dryer filters and maintain their functionality.
- Complete necessary paperwork in a timely manner, including lot changes and material verification reports.
- Plan and execute material and color changes according to the production schedule.
- Communicate potential shortages to Warehouse Leadership and Production.
- Control and maintain scrap generated by production.
- Perform line clearances outside of the clean room.
- Assemble cartons and containers using appropriate hand tools.
- Assist with packaging and sealing molded and/or assembled products per company and customer specifications.
- Ensure proper performance of equipment pertaining to resins and materials.
- Clean and maintain auxiliary material handling systems and support equipment.
- Maintain housekeeping of material loading areas and airlock.
- Participate in lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report any out-of-line conditions or damaged equipment to Supervisor or Maintenance.
- Operate packaging equipment as required per product specifications and/or work instructions.
- Complete Packaging auxiliary equipment (TPM) activities as needed.
- Follow instructions per ID sheets and visuals.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- Stand-up forklift experience (at least 1 year) or sit-down forklift experience (at least 5 years).
- Experience with RF Scanners.
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Hyster stand-up forklifts.
- Past experience working a 12-hour rotating shift.

Work Environment
Our facility is a contract manufacturing site, typically producing products for the medical industry. We have two buildings in Buffalo Grove and a brand new site in Libertyville. The work environment includes operating forklifts and other mechanical equipment, maintaining inventory, and following safety protocols.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $21.45/hr.
