Job Title: Human Resources Generalist
Location: 65 Miles outside of Elko, Nevada
Shift: Monday - Friday -12 hours, 6:30am- 6:30pm
Accommodation: Individual rooms with ensuite at the mining camp; meals are provided. The camp is located approx. 25 minutes from the mine site; daily transportation between the camp and the mite site is provided. Relocation assistance may be provided.
The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Services USA has a great opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist to work at the mining project located in the northern part of Nevada. This position will report to the Project Manager.
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in delivering HR services and strategic initiatives on-site at the mine. As the primary on-site HR representative, this position is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, consistent application of company policies, compliance with employment legislation, and fostering a respectful and inclusive workplace culture. This role provides hands-on support to employees and operational leadership across core HR functions including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, training coordination, and HRIS administration. The Generalist acts as a trusted advisor to site leadership, offering guidance on people-related matters and helping navigate complex employee issues.
In addition to day-to-day support, the Human Resources Generalist serves as a key link between site operations and the regional HR team, ensuring alignment with Barminco’s broader HR strategy and North American employment standards. The role also supports continuous improvement by identifying process gaps and implementing solutions that enhance efficiency, engagement, and operational effectiveness. This position requires discretion, sound judgment, and the ability to build strong working relationships across all levels in a remote, camp-based mining environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- HR Operations and Administration
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes
- Maintain and update employee data in the HRIS; ensure data integrity and compliance
- Generate and analyze HR reports to support leadership decision-making
- Administer benefits enrollment, leaves of absence, and general employee inquiries
- Ensure proper documentation and secure local retention of employee records
- Employee and Labor Relations
- Coach and advise supervisors and managers on employee relations and performance management
- Assist with formal investigations and resolution of workplace concerns
- Interpret and apply company policies and employment legislation consistently
- Advise on labor relations practices in accordance with applicable laws and company procedures
- Leadership Support and Policy Implementation
- Serve as a liaison between site operations and regional HR
- Participate in crew meetings and site initiatives to support employee engagement and communication
- Support implementation of HR initiatives and programs at the site level
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to local HR processes and procedures
- Compliance and Legislative Awareness
- Assist in monitoring employment legislation and share relevant updates with the Regional HR Manager and site leadership as needed.
- General understanding of employment laws (Nevada-specific preferred) and HR best practices
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Experience coordinating between several departments and levels of the organization
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on service and support
- High level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
- Proven ability to stay organized, manage time effectively, and handle multiple priorities
- Familiarity with employee data management practices
- Exceptional ability to navigate and utilize HRIS systems and multiple computer platforms, including advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Comfortable working independently with limited supervision in a dynamic environment
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly and work 12-hour days while on-site
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field preferred but not required.
- 3–5 years of relevant HR coordinator experience, preferably in the mining or heavy industrial sectors
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP, PHR or HR coursework, certifications, or diploma required
- Additional training in employment law or workplace investigations preferred
- Strong Familiarity with HRIS platforms and payroll/timekeeping systems (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote mine sites (required)
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., SuccessFactors, ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite
Work Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of working 12-hour shifts in a remote underground mining environment
- Frequent walking, standing, and movement between camp, office, and operational work areas
- Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods performing data entry and administrative tasks
- May be required to travel between camp and local administrative areas on uneven terrain
- Must be able to carry up to 25 lbs of materials (files, computer equipment, etc.) occasionally
- Exposure to varying weather conditions while navigating between camp and site location
- Must comply with all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements for the site
