About the Role:
The Traveling Superintendent oversees and point of contact for the day-to-day operations on the job site, ensuring construction activities are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project plans and specifications. This includes interfacing with the design team members, sub- contractors, site personnel, ownership, the project team, company employees, local authorities, and utility providers.
Job Duties:
- Prepare, plan, and supervise day-to-day total construction activities in accordance with project specifications, documents, and schedule.
- Manage all on-site construction activities from project mobilization through completion.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and site personnel.
- Maintain the project schedule by planning daily and weekly activities and tracking progress.
- Conduct daily jobsite walks to monitor quality, productivity, and compliance.
- Enforce all OSHA, company, and project-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and routine safety inspections.
- Address and report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately.
- Ensure all work is performed to plans, specifications, and industry standards.
- Identify and resolve construction issues proactively.
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs as needed with the project manager.
- Maintains an excellent, professional relationship with Client
- Serve as the primary point of contact for on-site stakeholders, including subcontractors, inspectors, owners, and architects.
- Maintain daily job logs, progress reports, and project documentation.
- Assist in developing and updating project schedules, reports, and meeting minutes. Manages the close out process, gathers all documents, submits per client requirements
- Coordinate deliveries, equipment, and material staging.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure jobsite.
- Oversee site logistics, including traffic control, waste disposal, and temporary utilities.
- Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualification and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Superintendent in commercial construction industry; Big Box Retail experience, required.
- OSHA 30 or equivalent safety certification preferred.
- Ability to work until flexible work schedule. Night/ Daylight shift, weekends, etc.
- Ability to perform the following tasks: general demolition, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, doors & hardware/glass, drywall, finishes, specialties, and general (assist in unloading of items and minor site cleanup
- Must have good interpersonal skills, desire to learn, ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing, proficient with computer applications as required to perform responsibilities.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, contracts, and specifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and other scheduling software experience required.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and professional communication skills.
- High sense of urgency and set priorities
- Must be a team player with a positive, collaborative attitude
- Travel: 50- 100%

The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee is required to work in compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
