Job DescriptionLet’s See if This Role Fits You

  • Do you speak lumber fluently—species, grades, profiles—and enjoy negotiating the best mix of price, quality, and lead time?
  • Are you comfortable turning demand signals into timely POs and reliable delivery plans?
  • Can you keep meticulous records, tame fast-moving inventories, and keep multiple vendors aligned?

What You’ll Do

  • Source and purchase rough lumber, milled wood products, and finishes.
  • Procure sundry manufacturing and shipping supplies.
  • Order supplies for our samples department.
  • Manage inventory levels for lumber, milled goods, and finishes so orders ship accurately and on time.
  • Own supplier relationships—care for current partners and discover, evaluate, and onboard new vendors.
  • Provide accurate pricing and lead times to our team of Production Coordinators as needed.
  • Issue clean, accurate POs; align with vendors on production lead times and delivery schedules.
  • Plan and coordinate freight for inbound and vendor-to-vendor shipments, including LTL and FTL.
  • Match receipts and vendor invoices to POs to confirm quantities and pricing.
  • Create and follow Quality Control procedures to ensure clear communication and correct ordering.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve QC and billing issues with vendors.
  • Partner with the COO on pricing updates and ordering process changes to protect margins.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date paper and digital documentation for all orders.
  • Work with the lumber department to ensure accurate receiving, storage, and inventory records.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of purchasing and inventory management experience.
  • Excellent organizational habits and sharp attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and comfort using web-based applications.
  • Knowledge of wood species, profiles, and grades.
  • Strong math skills, including converting SF ⇄ LF ⇄ BF for lumber and milled products.
  • Experience coordinating LTL and FTL freight volumes.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with grace under pressure.
  • A positive attitude and a sustained desire to learn our products and procedures.
