What You’ll Do
- Source and purchase rough lumber, milled wood products, and finishes.
- Procure sundry manufacturing and shipping supplies.
- Order supplies for our samples department.
- Manage inventory levels for lumber, milled goods, and finishes so orders ship accurately and on time.
- Own supplier relationships—care for current partners and discover, evaluate, and onboard new vendors.
- Provide accurate pricing and lead times to our team of Production Coordinators as needed.
- Issue clean, accurate POs; align with vendors on production lead times and delivery schedules.
- Plan and coordinate freight for inbound and vendor-to-vendor shipments, including LTL and FTL.
- Match receipts and vendor invoices to POs to confirm quantities and pricing.
- Create and follow Quality Control procedures to ensure clear communication and correct ordering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve QC and billing issues with vendors.
- Partner with the COO on pricing updates and ordering process changes to protect margins.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date paper and digital documentation for all orders.
- Work with the lumber department to ensure accurate receiving, storage, and inventory records.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of purchasing and inventory management experience.
- Excellent organizational habits and sharp attention to detail.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and comfort using web-based applications.
- Knowledge of wood species, profiles, and grades.
- Strong math skills, including converting SF ⇄ LF ⇄ BF for lumber and milled products.
- Experience coordinating LTL and FTL freight volumes.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with grace under pressure.
- A positive attitude and a sustained desire to learn our products and procedures.
