SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Set-up Operator is responsible for set-up and operates and assists in the repair of a verity of production machinery with minimal supervision and obtains necessary supplies for on-going operations in an industrial establishment by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner adhering to company safety policies.
  • Prepare operation machines to specification to insure correct production standards.
  • Inspect work pieces for defects to determine accuracy of machine operation, inspection with gages and templates to ensure quality production.
  • Start and stop machines as needed following proper lock-out tag-out procedure.
  • Works as a liaison with maintenance staff on machine repair and preventive maintenance.
  • Assists supervisor in providing guidance, direction and training to Machine Operators.
  • Perform all duties of Machine Operator as deemed necessary:
    1. Observe continuous operation of automatic machines to ensure that products meet specifications and to detect jams or malfunctions, making adjustments as necessary.
    2. Visually inspect products for surface and dimension defects to ensure conformance to specifications.
    3. Properly position and secure work pieces on machines and start feeding mechanisms.
    4. Remove finished products from machinery monitor their operation to ensure a quality process.
    5. Inspect parts for proper dimensions and visual defects as well as assist in identifying the cause of errors and other defects.
    6. Accurately complete proper documentation for job operation.
    7. Meet production standards, quotas, pace and schedule while maintaining high quality.
    8. Maintain a clean work environment in accordance with company procedures.
    9. Communicate any problems with machinery or tooling to supervisor and collaboratively resolve issues and suggest improvements.
    10. Use of hand tools when necessary, such as hammer, mallet, and specific air tools.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • 3 - 5 years working as a machine operator in a manufacturing field preferred.
