Bachelor’s degree in Education, valid state Teaching license or certification, and 1+ years Teaching experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opening is for an experienced general education Science teacher for grades 6-12 in a K-12 school setting located in Billings, MT. The position is a contract-to-hire with a full academic school year duration. The teacher will be responsible for instructing students in Earth and Physical Science as well as Biology, integrating technology effectively into lessons.

Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, following the school calendar. The caseload ranges from 8 to 12 students, with some smaller classes of 4 to 5 due to a wide variety of courses offered, including VoAg, Woodworking, PE, Art, Music, Business Ed, Technology, Social Studies, Mathematics, Special Education, and English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction in Earth and Physical Sciences and Biology to students in grades 6-12.
  • Incorporate technology into the classroom to enhance student learning.
  • Manage class sizes typically between 8-12 students, adapting plans for smaller groups as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff across various subjects offered in the program.
  • Engage with students in a Day Treatment and Residential setting, supporting their educational and behavioral needs.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Science education for grades 6-12.
  • Ability to participate in the Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) training, focusing on de-escalation techniques and safe physical restraint methods.
  • Experience or willingness to work in a therapeutic day treatment/residential educational environment.
