A Dental Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients in a dental office. They manage front-desk operations, schedule appointments, handle patient communications, and support administrative and billing tasks to ensure smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
Greet patients warmly and assist them upon arrival
Answer phone calls, emails, and text inquiries professionally
Schedule, confirm, and reschedule patient appointments
Maintain accurate patient records and update personal/insurance information
Verify dental insurance eligibility and process claims
Collect payments, post charges, and manage billing inquiries
Handle patient check-in and check-out procedures
Coordinate with dentists, hygienists, and clinical staff
Manage office correspondence, filing, and documentation
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality policies
Required Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Previous dental or medical office experience (preferred)
Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures (preferred)
Familiarity with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Basic accounting or billing knowledge
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
