Job Description

The Safety Manager is responsible for driving safety performance, compliance, and culture across assigned business units and projects. Acting as both a project-level and corporate safety resource, this role ensures alignment with federal, state, local, and client safety standards while mentoring safety department members and site operations teams. The Safety Manager oversees inspections, incident investigations, training, and safety planning, while also contributing to the development of HITT’s corporate safety initiatives. This position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to proactively identify and address safety risks.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate direct reports; manage staffing, workload, and performance reviews.
  • Conduct site safety inspections, analyze hazard/incident data, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, client, and company safety requirements across multiple projects.
  • Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and orientations for project teams and subcontractors.
  • Participate in preconstruction safety planning, subcontractor meetings, and job hazard analyses.
  • Respond to and lead investigations of safety incidents, crises, or OSHA inspections.
  • Research regulations, safety products, and industry trends to enhance corporate safety programs.
  • Collaborate with corporate risk management and participate in company-wide initiatives and committees.
  • Build strong relationships with project teams, clients, and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field preferred; CHST, CSP, or equivalent certification desirable.
  • OSHA 30-hour required; OSHA 500 preferred.
  • 5–8+ years of construction safety experience, including high-hazard areas (cranes, fall protection, scaffold, excavation, electrical).
  • Strong leadership, training, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities.
  • CPR/First Aid certification and willingness to respond to emergencies.
  • Flexible, independent, and able to work in diverse site conditions.
