JOB TITLE: Construction Safety Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: EHS
REPORTS TO: EHS Manager
SHIFT: Varies (M-F)
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Construction Safety Supervisor is responsible for implementing the company's health, safety, and environmental management system to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and to promote a safe and sustainable work environment at our facilities' construction sites. The Construction Safety Supervisor provides safety oversight of construction projects, their contractors, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. The Construction Safety Supervisor reports to the HSE Manager and acts as the subject matter expert for assigned projects and bridges the gap between construction projects and factory operations to allow for safe simultaneous operations between teams. This role is critical in minimizing risks, reducing incidents, and driving a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Acts as the safety subject matter expert for all active construction projects.
- Reviews and assesses contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other relevant regulatory bodies for the assigned project areas.
- Implements and ensures compliance with the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System.
- Work closely with contractors, subcontractors, operations, maintenance, and other project teams to reduce risks and improve workplace safety during simultaneous operations.
- Lead safety meetings and conduct JHA/JSA reviews.
- Leads emergency preparedness planning, response drills, and business continuity procedures for the designated projects and coordinates with operational teams to ensure smooth simultaneous operations.
- Develop and deliver safety training, orientations, presentations, and ad hoc meetings as required for audiences using translation devices as necessary.
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits across all projects and sites.
- Provides detailed reports of findings and suggests corrective actions with follow-up through completion.
- Issues and reviews all permits to work for high-risk activities.
- Facilitate and assist with incident investigations of all incidents, including near misses, and ensure the timely completion of root cause analyses and corrective action plans are implemented by the company and contractor.
- Maintain accurate record-keeping of all relevant materials as required.
- Facilitate safety meetings for the designated projects.
- Coordinate environmental monitoring, reporting, and sampling as needed.
- Ensure recordkeeping of all project-related safety material.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, or a related field, preferred.
- OSHA 500 Outreach Training Authorization. (Candidates with experience and current authorization will be considered in place of a degree)
- 3+ years of experience in construction as a safety professional..
- Solid knowledge of 29 CFR 1926 regulations.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Strong communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Chinese) is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to walk, stand, and move through the production floor for extended periods.
- May regularly lift up to 50 lbs., sometimes more with assistance. May push or pull equipment, materials, or carts up to 75 lbs.
- May require frequent bending, stooping, or kneeling.
- May occasionally climb ladders or platforms and work from heights.
- May be required to access confined spaces.
- Must have sufficient hearing to detect alarms, machine sounds, and instructions in a noisy environment.
- Must be able to work in high-temperature areas near extrusion and annealing furnace lines. Must be able to withstand a loud production environment with available hearing protection as needed.
