Position Description:

Under general supervision, the Licensed Practical Nurse assists with a variety of paraprofessional nursing tasks in an institutional, inpatient setting involving high-risk and high-acuity patients. This position is intended for use within South Carolina correctional and institutional healthcare environments. The LPN performs duties under the supervision of an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN), Registered Nurse (RN), licensed physician, or other practitioner authorized by South Carolina law.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of practical nursing procedures and human anatomy
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and make accurate patient observations
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical documentation
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  • Ability to lift and move patients as required

Requirements:

  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing
  • May require Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, including CPR, AED use, and ventilations
