Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A Special Education Teacher is needed to cover a 12-week leave starting December 1 in a school located in Wilkes Barre, PA. This contract position focuses on serving students in grades 7 through 12 within an Emotional Support classroom setting. The teacher will work with a caseload of approximately 25 students, providing both push-in and pull-out support to meet diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support for students with emotional and behavioral challenges in grades 7-12
- Manage a caseload of 25 students, adapting individualized education programs (IEPs) to ensure student progress
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administration to implement effective interventions
- Utilize both push-in (inclusion) and pull-out (one-on-one or small group) teaching methods
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior, and communicate regularly with parents and guardians
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education certification appropriate for middle and high school levels
- Experience working in Emotional Support classrooms preferable
- Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and IEP development
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and educators
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs
