Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years Stepdown RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Provide specialized nursing care in a step-down unit within a supportive healthcare environment. This contract role is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable managing patients who require close monitoring but not intensive care. The position involves working under the direction of the Unit Director and collaborating with clinical leadership to deliver high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient care functions in accordance with Maine Board of Nursing regulations and facility policies.
  • Monitor patient conditions and respond effectively to changes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide direct supervision as needed during assigned shifts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communication of patient status.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Maine RN license required.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications mandatory within 30 days of hire.
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Telemetry experience highly desirable.
  • MOAB or CPI certification preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work flexibly across variable shifts.
  • Team-oriented attitude and commitment to compassionate patient care.

Additional Details:

  • This is a contract position with up to 16 hours of orientation (unpaid).
  • Note: If residing within 50 miles of the facility, a local rate adjustment will apply.
  • The facility reserves the right to cancel up to three shifts during a 13-week contract.
