Job DescriptionDescription:

Based in Midland, TX with operations primarily across West Texas and NM. Work with key oil & gas companies and become a valuable part of the team assisting with onsite completion or production activities. Well Spring Automation provides automation and automation services to the oil and gas industry. We are a leader in developing cutting-edge sensor and automation control systems that help to reduce costs and increase safety in our clients' operations. Our operations are rapidly expanding to include automation, water management, water transfer, drill out, and flow back services.


The Automation Technician will have experience of using wireless networks for communication between the different controls. Modbus RS485 and/or Serial RS232 experience is preferred. Entry level to intermediate positions available for those willing to learn new skills.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with automation for water transfer services and fuel services.
  • Working with flow meters, sensors, water pumps, etc.
  • Utilizing modbus (rs485) or serial (rs232 communications).
  • Install and maintain automation and sensors (level, flow, etc), read instruments, and use hand tools.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Perform appropriately in situations, utilizing tact, initiative, and good judgment.
  • Assist with setup and maintenance of program facilities.
  • Check equipment for safety.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records within various areas of the program.
  • Ensure the adherence to safe work practices and procedures.
  • Attend meetings and learning workshops as requested.
  • Meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversation.
  • Meet schedules and deadlines.
  • Utilize time management, planning and organizational skills.

  • Work within program schedules.
  • Read, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Current safety certifications are a plus!
  • automation: 1 years (Preferred)
  • Modbus or serial communications: 1 years (Preferred)
  • Oil and Gas Industry: 3 years (Preferred)
  • I&E Experience: 2 years (Preferred)
  • Water transfer and/or fuel services automation: 2 years (Preferred)

Qualification Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or a 2-year Associates degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience working in the oilfield.
  • 2+ years of field experience working with automation for water transfers and/or fuel services.
  • 3+ years of experience with flow meters, sensors, water pumps, etc.
  • The candidates will have 2+ or more years of experience with modbus (rs485) or serial (rs232 communications)
  • Previous work history installing and maintaining automation and sensors (level, flow, etc), reading instruments, using hand tools, etc, helpful.
  • Valid driver license with clean driving record for last 3 years.
