Job Description

The Sr. Planner/Buyer is responsible for the purchased machinery, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, or services necessary for the operation of an establishment. Purchase raw or semi-finished materials for manufacturing. The Planner/Buyer is also responsible for planning the production of and the flow of materials and the purchasing actions for a defined value stream segment. The Planner/Buyer ensures that accurate and appropriate inventory levels are maintained.


Job Responsibilities

  • Improves value stream material flow to meet customer demand requirements
  • Maintains MRP planning data to ensure system performance
  • Monitors inventories, customer demand, and production levels
  • Production scheduling activities by monitoring material inventories, tracking progress and production and reviewing factors that affect schedules
  • Responsible for the timely execution of product and services sourcing activities
  • Responds to NCPs for vendor supplied goods and coordinates corrective actions
  • Evaluates, monitors, and reports supplier scorecard performance
  • Maintains relationship and communication with supplier base
  • Adheres to established company policies, procedures, terms, conditions and legal matters


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management/Logistics or another related discipline.
  • Two years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment (SAP, AX Dynamics)
  • System/data analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other similar Continuous Improvement concepts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • APICS Certification preferred.
  • Experience with database and query language to manipulate Microsoft AX, Excel.
  • Highly Detail Oriented.
  • Demonstrate acceptable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work independently and productively.
