Job Title: Associate Scientist
Job Description
The Associate Scientist will be responsible for single cell capturing and library construction, Illumina sequencing, and RNA extraction from tissue sections, as well as histological sectioning and staining. The role requires technical competence in basic protocols for single cell RNA sequencing, cell culture, and handling. The successful candidate will independently perform routine protocols for single cell RNA sequencing and integrate results to determine the next steps. They will also observe and address any issues in experimental processes or results and communicate effectively with the Molecular Profiling group.
Responsibilities
- Perform single cell capturing and library construction.
- Conduct Illumina sequencing and RNA extraction from tissue sections.
- Execute histological sectioning and staining.
- Read and understand scientific material relevant to experiments.
- Independently perform routine protocols for single cell RNA sequencing.
- Utilize working knowledge of Illumina sequencing equipment.
- Apply basic histological techniques such as microtome sectioning and tissue mounting.
- Integrate obtained results and determine subsequent actions.
- Identify and recommend solutions for problems in experimental processes or results.
- Communicate effectively with the Molecular Profiling group.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Molecular Biology or related field.
- 2 to 5 years of related industry experience.
- Proficiency in histology, molecular biology, and PCR.
- Experience with NGS library prep and operating Illumina sequencing instruments.
- Familiarity with next generation sequencing, RNA sequencing, and cell culture.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Tarrytown, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
