Shipping & Receiving Manager
Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound material flow within a metal stamping manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate documentation, proper material tracking, and efficient coordination with vendors, suppliers, and customers. The position plays a critical role in maintaining material traceability, inventory accuracy, and timely shipment of finished goods.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving Operations
- Manage all incoming and outgoing shipments including raw materials, tooling components, and finished goods.
- Coordinate daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure on-time delivery and pickup.
- Arrange freight with vendors, suppliers, and customers.
- Schedule and coordinate inbound deliveries and outbound shipments.
Documentation & Recordkeeping
- Prepare and review shipping documentation including:

- Bills of Lading (BOL)
- Packing Lists
- Shipping labels and certifications
- Verify accuracy of all shipment documentation before materials are received or shipped.
- Maintain organized records of all shipping and receiving transactions.
Material Tracking & Traceability
- Log and track incoming material including:

- Heat numbers
- Lot numbers
- Material certifications
- Ensure material traceability requirements are maintained according to company and customer standards.
- Coordinate with production and quality teams to ensure proper material identification and usage.
Inventory & Material Control
- Verify quantities and condition of incoming materials.
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of raw materials and finished goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records related to received and shipped materials.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in shipments or documentation.
Vendor & Customer Coordination
- Communicate with suppliers, freight carriers, and customers regarding shipment schedules and logistics.
- Resolve shipping or receiving issues including delays, damages, or documentation discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with customer-specific shipping requirements.
Qualifications
- Experience in shipping and receiving within a manufacturing environment metal stamping, or similar industry preferred.
- Strong understanding of shipping documentation such as Bills of Lading, packing lists, and freight paperwork.
- Experience with material lot tracking and traceability systems.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to coordinate with multiple departments including production, purchasing, and quality.
- Familiarity with inventory systems or ERP software preferred.
- Forklift experience or certification preferred.
