JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a motivated Sales Engineer to join our team, specializing in paint system applications and related equipment for the automotive industry. This role involves supporting sales, installation, and maintenance services for paint booths, conveyors, robots, and other automated systems. The Sales Engineer will act as a key liaison between customers, local vendors, ensuring smooth project execution and excellent customer service. The position is office-based in Georgetown, KY, with travel to various customer and project sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Vendor and Customer Management
- Coordinate meetings and site inspections with customers regarding equipment such as painting booths, ovens, conveyor systems, pre-treatment, and E-coat systems
- Clarify and confirm customer requirements
- Prepare proposals and specification reports, primarily communicating in English
Cost and Estimation
- Request quotes for design and parts procurement from the parent company in Japan
- Obtain quotes from local vendors and subcontractors for parts, construction, and installation work
- Compile and submit customer quotes
Confirmation and Shipping
- Verify equipment specifications with customers
- Arrange shipping logistics, monitor production schedules, and control costs
- Prepare installation instructions and coordinate on-site work between Japanese supervisors and local teams
Project Management
- Supervise equipment installation and construction projects at customer facilities
- Facilitate meetings between customers and contractors to update project status and resolve issues
- Create comprehensive work completion reports
Technical and Additional Responsibilities
- Understand design technologies, including psychrometric charts (temperature/humidity), pressure loss in ducts and piping, and heat source knowledge
- Apply basic knowledge of sheet metal, material selection, processing (bending, cutting), and welding methods
- Select equipment (pumps, fans, valves, filters) based on design criteria from Japan
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by management and participate in training on in-house technology
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
- Willing and able to travel approximately 25% to 30% of the time
- Flexible availability, including willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
- Japanese language skills are a plus, but not required
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Technical background or experience in mechanical systems, automation, or industrial equipment preferred
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and internal teams
- Project management skills with attention to detail and organizational ability
